Starting Small and Making It Big: Bill Cummings’ Journey
May 17, 2019 @ 11:30 am - 2:00 pm
Over the years, the Cummings Foundation has awarded more than $200 million in grant funding to nonprofits in Greater Boston. The philanthropy of Joyce and Bill Cummings reflects their personal philosophy and commitment to “doing well by doing good.” Moreover, as one of the early signers of the “Giving Pledge” and with the blessing of their children, the couple has pledged to donate nearly all of their assets by the time of their deaths. Bill, whose philanthropy has already made a powerful impact on the trajectory of many domestic and international not-for-profits, will share with us his journey from humble beginnings in Medford selling ice cream from the back of bike as a kid, to becoming a commercial real estate magnate, and ultimately philanthropist.
